Her Acting Career
Mary Willis spent many years acting at the Drury Lane Theatre. This was one of the most famous theaters in London. She also performed at other important places like the Haymarket Theatre and the Lincoln's Inn Fields.
She started acting when she was very young, as a child actor, in 1701. Mary often appeared in "revivals," which means she acted in plays that were already popular and being shown again. But she also got to be in brand new plays sometimes.
Her last known performance was in a city called York in 1734. In that play, she took on the role of Selima in Tamerlane, a play written by Nicholas Rowe.
