Mary was born around the year 1223. Her father, Raoul II of Lusignan, was a count. This meant he was a very important person in his region. Her mother, Yolande de Dreux, also came from a noble family.
Marriage and Titles
Around the year 1250, Mary married Alphonso of Brienne. When she married, she gained more important titles. She became the Dame d'Issoudun and also the Countess of Guinness. This showed her high status in society.
Mary passed away on October 1, 1260, in a place called Melle.
Her Children
Mary and Alphonso had two children together:
- John I of Brienne, Count of Eu
- Blanche, who became an Abbess of Maubuisson. An abbess was the head of a group of nuns in a monastery.
