Masaaki Kato (born December 22, 1958) is a former Japanese football player. He was a skilled Midfielder and Forward. Kato played for several clubs in Japan and also represented his country on the Japan national team.

Kato's Club Career

Masaaki Kato was born in Nagoya, Japan, on December 22, 1958. After finishing his studies at Hosei University, he started his professional football journey.

In 1981, he joined a team called Toshiba. This club played in Division 2 of the Japan Soccer League, which was a major football league in Japan at that time. During his time with Toshiba, the team achieved a great victory. They won the 1981 JSL Cup, a special competition for football clubs.

Unfortunately, Masaaki Kato had to leave Toshiba in 1983 because of an injury. After a short break, he returned to football in 1985. He then joined another club, All Nippon Airways, which was part of Division 1 of the league.

Playing for Japan's National Team

Masaaki Kato also had the honor of playing for his country. He joined the Japan national team. This means he played football for Japan against teams from other countries.
