Masaaki Kato (加藤 正明, born December 22, 1958) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder or forward. Kato also played for the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs

Masaaki Kato was born in Nagoya, Japan, on December 22, 1958. After finishing his studies at Hosei University, he joined a football team called Toshiba in 1981. This team was part of the Japan Soccer League's second division.

In his first year with Toshiba, the team won the 1981 JSL Cup. This was a great achievement! However, Masaaki Kato had to leave the club in 1983 because of an injury. Later, in 1985, he joined another team, All Nippon Airways, which played in the first division of the league.

Playing for His Country

Masaaki Kato also had the honor of playing for the Japan national team. His first game for Japan was on August 30, 1981, against the Malaysian team.

Just a few days later, on September 3, he scored his first goal for Japan in a match against India. In total, he played 3 games for Japan in 1981 and scored 1 goal.
