Masaaki Mori (森 正明, Mori Masaaki, born July 12, 1961) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defend. Mori also played for the Japanese national team.
Masaaki Mori's Club Career
Masaaki Mori was born in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, on July 12, 1961. After finishing his studies at Fukuoka University, he joined a top football club called Fujita Industries in 1984. This club played in the Japan Soccer League Division 1.
In 1990, his team faced a challenge when they were moved down to Division 2. This is called being "relegated." But they didn't give up! In 1992, Fujita Industries worked hard and became the champions of Division 2.
Mori played for Fujita Industries until he retired in 1992. During his time with the club, he played in 131 games and scored 19 goals.
Playing for Japan's National Team
Masaaki Mori also had the honor of playing for his country. He made his first appearance for the Japanese national team on June 2, 1988. This match was against China.
In 1989, he took part in the qualifying games for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. These are important matches to decide which teams get to play in the World Cup tournament. Mori played a total of 8 games for Japan's national team before he finished his international career in 1989.
