Masafumi Yokoyama (横山 正文, Yokoyama Masafumi, born April 10, 1956) is a former Japanese soccer player. He was known for playing as a forward, which means he was good at scoring goals. He also played for the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs

Masafumi Yokoyama was born in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, on April 10, 1956. After finishing high school, he joined a professional soccer club called Nippon Steel in 1975. This club was part of the Japan Soccer League Division 1, which was the top league at the time.

He played many games for Nippon Steel. However, the team didn't always do well. In 1982, his club was moved down to Division 2, which is a lower league. During his time in Division 1, Masafumi Yokoyama played in 105 matches and scored 29 goals.

Playing for Japan

Masafumi Yokoyama also had a chance to play for his country, Japan. He made his first appearance for the Japan national team on August 23, 1979, in a game against North Korea.

In 1980, he was a very active player for the national team. He played in all the important matches, including the qualifying games for the 1980 Summer Olympics and the 1982 FIFA World Cup.

He continued to play for Japan in 1983 and 1984, taking part in the qualifying matches for the 1984 Summer Olympics. His last game for the national team was during these Olympic qualifiers in 1984. In total, Masafumi Yokoyama played 31 games for Japan and scored 10 goals.
