Masayuki Yanagisawa's Football Journey
Masayuki Yanagisawa was born in Yokohama, Japan, on August 27, 1979. After finishing his studies at Hosei University, he started his professional football career. In 2002, he joined Tokyo Verdy, a team in Japan's top football league, the J1 League.
Playing for Tokyo Verdy
Yanagisawa quickly became an important player for Tokyo Verdy. From the summer of 2002, he regularly played as a right side back. This position involves defending the right side of the field and also helping with attacks. However, after 2004, he played less often. In 2005, Tokyo Verdy faced a tough time and was "relegated" to the J2 League. This means they moved down to the second-highest league because of their performance.
Moving to New Teams
In 2007, Yanagisawa moved to Cerezo Osaka, another team in the J2 League. He continued to be a regular player there for two seasons. In 2009, he joined Sagan Tosu, where he also played regularly.
In 2010, he moved to Yokohama FC. He was a key player for them in 2011. However, in 2012, he didn't get to play as much. At the end of the 2012 season, Masayuki Yanagisawa decided to retire from professional football.
