MasterChef România facts for kids

MasterChef Romania is a super fun TV show from Romania. It's a cooking competition for people who love to cook at home, not professional chefs. The show first started in March 2012 on the Pro TV channel.

The first host of the show was the Romanian actor Răzvan Fodor. The first judges were famous chefs Cătălin Scărlătescu, Sorin Bontea, and Florin Dumitrescu. Later, other chefs like Patrizia Paglieri, Adrian Hădean, Florin Scripcă, Răzvan Exarhu, Samuel le Torriellec, Liviu Popescu, Joseph Hadad, Cosmin Tudoran, and Silviu Chelaru also became judges.

The first season aired from March 20 to June 6, 2012. Over the years, many more seasons have been broadcast, with the latest one starting in January 2022.

Cooking Challenges

In MasterChef Romania, home cooks face exciting challenges to show off their skills. Here are some of the main types of challenges:

Auditions: Earning an Apron

First, many amateur chefs from all over the country try out. They each cook their best dish for the three judges. The judges taste the food and share their thoughts. To move on, a cook needs at least two "yes" votes from the judges. If they get enough "yes" votes, they receive a special white MasterChef apron. This apron means they are officially in the competition!

Mystery Box: Surprise Ingredients

In this challenge, contestants get a box full of secret ingredients. They must use these ingredients to create any dish they want. They can use as many or as few ingredients as they like. After everyone finishes cooking, the judges pick three dishes to taste. The person who made the best dish wins a special advantage in the next challenge.

Team Challenge: Cooking for a Crowd

Sometimes, the contestants work in teams. They are split into two groups, usually a blue team and a red team. They might have to cook for a big event, like a wedding or a restaurant full of people. After the task, a group of people, like the guests, decide which team did better. The team that loses has to face an elimination challenge next.

Pressure Test: Cooking Under Pressure

The "pressure test" is for contestants who didn't do well in a previous challenge. This could be the worst cooks from an individual challenge or the losing team from a group challenge. They are given a specific dish to cook in a limited amount of time. It's a race against the clock! Once their dishes are ready, the judges taste them. They give feedback and then decide who will be eliminated from the competition.

Season Winners

The first episode of MasterChef Romania aired on March 20, 2012. The winner was Petru Buiucă, who was 23 years old and worked as an office manager. He won against Mimi Nicolae in the final and received 50,000 euros.

The second season started on March 5, 2013. Aida Parascan, a housewife who lived in Italy, won the grand prize of 50,000 euros. She came back to Romania just to be on the show!

The third season began on March 18, 2014.

The fourth season started on September 15, 2014. Ciprian Ogarcă was announced as the winner on December 23, 2014.

The fifth season kicked off on September 14, 2015. Andrei Voica was the winner, announced on December 14, 2015.

The sixth season aired in the spring of 2017. Robert Petrescu was the winner of this season.
