Even though she was the first woman to hold the job of mayor, another woman named María Domínguez Remón was the first to be chosen by voters as mayor in 1932. Matilde worked hard to make her town better. She helped bring electricity to Quatretondeta and built a road to connect it with the nearby town of Gorga.
