Matthew Tuck's Music Career

Matthew Tuck's main band, Bullet for My Valentine, began in 1998. At first, they were called Jeff Killed John. They played a style of music known as nu metal.

In 2003, their bassist Nick Crandle left the band. Jason James joined as the new bassist. That's when they changed their name to Bullet for My Valentine. Since then, they have released seven studio albums and four shorter music collections called EPs.

Tuck is also a singer and rhythm guitarist in the band AxeWound. This band is known as a "supergroup" because its members are already famous from other bands.

In June 2007, Matthew Tuck had to have a tonsillectomy, which is surgery to remove his tonsils. Because of this, the band had to cancel all their upcoming shows. This included a big tour where they were supposed to open for the famous band Metallica. While he was recovering and couldn't speak, Tuck wrote that he would start working on the band's next album as soon as his doctors gave him permission.

Musical Inspirations

Matthew Tuck's first musical influences came from his father's music. He listened to bands like Status Quo and artists like Bruce Springsteen.

Later, he was inspired by many other rock and metal bands. These included Metallica, Nirvana, Pantera, Slayer, Machine Head, Iron Maiden, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Limp Bizkit, and Jimmy Eat World.

His biggest inspiration was Metallica. The first album he ever bought was their famous Black Album. He bought it after hearing their song "Enter Sandman" for the first time. Metallica was the main reason he started playing guitar. He learned their guitar riffs by listening to them, which helped him begin his own music career.
