Matti Helge Ranin (born November 21, 1926 – died November 24, 2013) was a famous Finnish actor. He had a very long career, working in movies, on television, and as a voice actor for many years. Matti Ranin was known for his strong voice and his ability to play many different kinds of characters.

Matti Ranin's Acting Career
Matti Ranin started acting when he was very young. He became well-known in the 1950s and 1960s, which was a busy time for him in films.
Famous Film Roles
One of his most famous roles was Captain Kariluoto in the movie The Unknown Soldier. This film was directed by Edvin Laine. He also played Toivo Virta in the popular Inspector Palmu movies. Later, he appeared as Lauri Salpakari in Here, Beneath the North Star (1968). This movie was based on a book series by Väinö Linna.
Voice Acting and Directing
Matti Ranin was also a talented voice actor. He lent his voice to many children's audio books, cartoons, and TV shows. He became especially famous as the voice of Histamiini, a horse puppet character from children's TV shows.
He also directed the Finnish versions of several animated films. These included The Little Mermaid in 1990 and Beauty and The Beast in 1992. Matti Ranin also voiced characters in these films. He was Doc in Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs and Maurice in Beauty and The Beast.
