Mattie Rogers' Early Life

Mattie Rogers was born on August 23, 1995, in Apopka, Florida. Before she became a weightlifter, Mattie was involved in other sports. She competed in cheerleading and gymnastics. When she was 17 years old, she started training in CrossFit. After just one year of training, she entered her very first weightlifting competition.

Mattie Rogers' Weightlifting Career

Mattie Rogers began her international weightlifting journey in 2014. Her first big competition was the 2014 IWF Pan-American Junior Championships. A year later, she made her debut at the senior level at the 2015 World Championships. There, she finished 15th overall.

Olympic Dreams and World Medals

In 2016, Mattie came very close to qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics. She was recognized as the best overall lifter at the 2016 National Championships & Olympic Trials. However, she did not quite meet all the requirements set by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) to go to the Olympics that year.

Mattie continued to train hard and achieve great success. In 2021, she earned a silver medal at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She competed in the women's 76 kg event.

Pan American and World Championship Success

Mattie had an amazing year in 2022. She won the gold medal in the women's 76 kg event at the 2022 Pan American Weightlifting Championships in Bogotá, Colombia. She also took home gold medals for both the Snatch and Clean & Jerk lifts at this event.

Later in 2022, Mattie competed at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships, also held in Bogota. She once again won silver medals in the women's 76 kg category, as well as for her Snatch and Clean & Jerk lifts. This made her the only American weightlifter to win medals at five World Championships in a row!

Mattie also competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics (which were held in 2021 due to the pandemic) in Tokyo, Japan. She finished 6th in the 87 kg category.

Major Achievements and Records

Mattie Rogers has won many medals throughout her career. She has earned four silver medals at the World Weightlifting Championships. She also has multiple gold and silver medals from the Pan American Weightlifting Championships.
