Mattie Rogers, whose full name is Martha Ann Rogers, is an amazing American weightlifter. She was born on August 23, 1995. Mattie is famous for winning many silver medals at the World Weightlifting Championships. She also holds special records in the United States for how much she can lift in different weight categories. In 2021, she represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Mattie's Early Life

Mattie Rogers was born in Apopka, Florida. Before she started weightlifting, Mattie was active in cheerleading and gymnastics. She began training in a fitness program called CrossFit when she was 17 years old. After just one year of training, she entered her very first weightlifting competition.

Mattie's Weightlifting Journey

Mattie Rogers started her international weightlifting career in 2014. She competed at the Pan-American Junior Championships. A year later, in 2015, she made her debut at the senior-level World Championships.

In 2016, Mattie almost qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. She was named the best overall lifter at the National Championships. However, she did not quite meet all the rules to go to the Olympics that year.

Mattie has won many medals throughout her career.

  • In 2017, she earned a silver medal at the World Weightlifting Championships in Anaheim, United States.
  • She won another silver medal at the 2019 World Championships in Thailand.
  • In 2021, Mattie won a silver medal in the women's 76 kg event at the World Weightlifting Championships in Uzbekistan.
  • She continued her success in 2022, winning a gold medal at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships in Colombia. She won gold in both the Snatch and Clean & Jerk lifts at this event.
  • Later in 2022, at the World Weightlifting Championships, Mattie won another silver medal. This made her the only American weightlifter to win medals at five World Championships in a row!

Mattie Rogers holds the United States records for the snatch, clean & jerk, and total weight lifted in the 76 kg category. This shows how strong and skilled she is in her sport.
