About Maureen Judge
Maureen Judge was born in Montreal, Quebec. She was one of eight children! As a kid, she lived in different cities. These included Montreal, Kingston, Ontario, and Chicago, Illinois. In 1967, she moved to Toronto, Ontario.
She studied science and philosophy at The University of Toronto. Later, in 1982, she earned a Master's degree. This was in cinema studies from New York University. Today, Judge lives in Toronto with her husband. She has two grown children.
Maureen Judge has directed and produced many films. Most of these are documentaries. She has also worked on TV series and some short dramas. Some of her most famous films include My Millennial Life. This film won a CSA Award in 2017. It was for Best Documentary Program. Another well-known film is Unveiled: The Mother Daughter Relationship. This won a Genie Award in 1997. It was for Best Short Documentary.
She started producing TV series in 2002. She created and produced a 13-episode series called Family Secrets. In 2006, she also created Heart of a Poet.
In 2008, Judge produced the documentary film FLicKeR. This film won a special award at Hot Docs. It also won Best Film on International Art in Poland. FLicKeR was nominated for a Gemini Award in 2009. Her next film, Mom's Home (2010), was also nominated for a Gemini Award. This was for Best Social-Political Documentary.

Heart of a Poet TV Series
Heart of a Poet is a Canadian television documentary series. It first aired in April 2006. Maureen Judge and Tina Hahn created it. Maureen Judge was also an executive producer. The show was broadcast on Bravo!. It ran for two seasons, ending in November 2007.
Each episode of the series focused on a different Canadian poet. It showed their lives, their writings, and their performances. Viewers learned about the poets through their poems and interviews. They also saw how their daily lives influenced their poetry.
Some of the poets featured in the series include George Elliott Clarke, bill bissett, Christian Bök, Marty Gervais, Lillian Allen, Shane Koyczan, Ray Hsu, and Daphne Marlatt.
