Max Montana Hoetzel, born on January 11, 1996, is a former professional basketball player. He has both American and German nationality. Max played college basketball for two different teams: the Indiana Hoosiers and the San Diego State Aztecs. After his college years, he went on to play basketball professionally in Europe.

High School Hoops
Max Montana went to Wilbraham & Monson Academy for high school. During his final year there, he was a star player. He scored an average of 16 points per game. He also grabbed 8 rebounds and made 4 assists in each game.
College Journey
Max started his college basketball career at Indiana University in 2014. In his first year, he played about 7.7 minutes per game. He averaged 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds.
In 2015, he decided to transfer to San Diego State. He took a year off from playing games, which is called a "redshirt" year in college sports. This allowed him to practice with the team and get ready.
During the 2016–2017 season, Max played well for San Diego State. He averaged 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. In his junior year, he played 26 games and averaged 6.9 points. He missed a few games that season because of a knee injury. In 2018, Max chose to leave college early to start his professional basketball career.
Pro Basketball Career
In 2018, Max Montana began his professional journey. He signed with the Giessen 46ers, a team in Germany's top basketball league, the Basketball Bundesliga.
In February 2019, Max moved to another German team, the Hamburg Towers. With the Hamburg Towers, he helped them win the ProA championship. The ProA is Germany's second-highest professional basketball league.
Later, in February 2021, Max signed with Keflavík, a team in Iceland's top league, the Úrvalsdeild karla. However, his time with Keflavík was short. On March 16, the team ended his contract. This happened because of issues with the club's rules. In the 9 games he played for Keflavík, he averaged 9.0 points. He also made 35.5% of his three-point shots.
Playing for His Country
Max Montana also had the chance to play for his country. In 2013, he was part of the German Under-18 (U-18) national team.
