May Craig (born in 1889, died in 1972) was a talented Irish actress. She was born in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. May Craig was known for her long career on stage and in films.
Acting Career
May Craig started her acting journey at the famous Abbey Theatre in Dublin. She joined the theatre in 1916 and worked there for many years, until 1968. The Abbey Theatre is one of Ireland's most important theatres. During her time there, May Craig acted in many different plays.
She was known as a "character actress." This means she was very good at playing unique and interesting characters, not just the main heroes or heroines. She brought many different personalities to life on stage.
Touring the World
May Craig also traveled a lot with the Abbey Theatre. She went on six tours to North America. Her first performance in America was in 1932, at the Ambassador Theater in New York City. During her time in New York in 1932 and 1933, she performed in several plays. These included Autumn Fire, The Big House, King Oedipus, The Well of the Saints, and Church Street.
