Maya Kuzminichna Kopitseva (Russian: Ма́йя Кузьми́нична Копы́тцева) was a talented Russian painter. She was born on May 18, 1924, in Gagry, a town in Abkhazia, which was part of the Soviet Union (USSR) at the time. Maya Kopitseva became famous for her beautiful still-life paintings. She lived and worked in Saint Petersburg, Russia, which was called Leningrad for a long time.
Maya Kopitseva was a very respected artist. She was even given the special title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. This award recognized her great contributions to art. She was also an important member of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists. Many people consider her one of the best artists from the Leningrad School of Painting.

Maya Kuzminichna Kopitseva began her journey as an artist in Gagry. She studied at a famous art school called the Ilya Repin Institute. She graduated in 1951. During her studies, she learned from well-known teachers like Boris Fogel and Alexander Zaytsev.

After finishing her studies, Maya Kopitseva started showing her art to the public. From 1951 onwards, her paintings were part of many art exhibitions. She painted different kinds of subjects. Maya Kopitseva was married to another famous Russian painter, Anatoli Levitin. He was also a respected art teacher. Maya Kopitseva passed away on June 6, 2005, in Saint Petersburg. She died from thyroid cancer.
