The neighborhood of Mbocayaty started to grow in 1929. The first families to live here were the Meza, Arce, and Leon families. At that time, the area was mostly empty.
There were no proper streets, just small paths. These paths were made by the first people who settled there. The area also had many coconut palm trees. This is likely how the neighborhood got its name, Mbocayaty.
