Kids Encyclopedia Facts

McDonaldsville is a small place in Stark County, Ohio. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or a town. Instead, it's part of the larger county around it.

The Story of McDonaldsville

McDonaldsville was first planned out on a map in 1829. People say it was named after a general from the American Revolutionary War named McDonald, who the person who founded the community really looked up to.

In the early days, McDonaldsville didn't grow very big because it didn't have any railroads nearby. Trains were super important back then for moving goods and people, so not having them made it hard for the community to expand.

A post office opened in McDonaldsville in 1852, helping people send and receive letters. It stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1906.
