McKinley Washington Jr. was born in Mayesville, South Carolina. He grew up to be a dedicated person. He studied hard and earned a bachelor's degree from Johnson C. Smith University. He then went on to become a minister. He got his master's degree in divinity from Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary. He served as the pastor of the Edisto Presbyterian Church in Edisto Beach, South Carolina.
