McMahon Playground is a fun place to play in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. It is a one-acre park located between Hampton Park and Rutledge Avenue. This playground is a great spot for kids to enjoy outdoor activities.
Why is it Called McMahon Playground?
This special playground is named after a wonderful person named Genevieve Kanapaux McMahon. She worked for almost twenty years as the supervisor of the nearby Hampton Park playground. She helped make sure kids had a safe and fun place to play.
To honor her dedication, the playground was officially named after her on October 2, 1999. It was a way to say thank you for all her hard work.
What's New at the Playground?
In 2015, the Charleston Parks Conservancy helped make the playground even better. They worked on a big project to update the park. This project cost about $100,000.
The improvements included new and exciting playground equipment. They also made the park look nicer with new plants and landscaping. These changes made McMahon Playground an even more enjoyable place for everyone.
