The Meadowbrook Stock Farm, also known as the Thomas R. Murray Ranch, is a special place in Montana. It is located near Hobson, Montana, close to U.S. Route 87. This historic farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 13, 1992.

Discovering Meadowbrook Stock Farm
Meadowbrook Stock Farm is a historic site. It shows how people lived and worked in Montana long ago. The farm covers about 20 acres. It has several buildings that tell a story of early settlement.
Who Was Thomas R. Murray?
The farm was founded by Thomas R. Murray. He was an immigrant from Scotland. Mr. Murray came to this area in 1882. He started building his ranch and home here.
The Main House: A Stone Masterpiece
The main house at Meadowbrook Stock Farm is quite unique. It is a two-story farmhouse built in 1908. The house was made from special "cast stone" blocks. Thomas R. Murray himself made these concrete blocks. He used his own molds to create them.
Classical Revival Style
The house has a beautiful design. It features a style called Classical Revival. This style includes an open porch. The porch wraps around the south and west sides of the house. It has wooden columns with rounded bases. These columns support the porch roof. There is also a second-story porch on the same side.
Other Important Buildings
Besides the main house, there are other buildings on the farm. Three of these outbuildings are also made of cast stone. One of them was an ice house. There are also buildings made of wood. These include structures built with wood frames and post-and-beam construction. The largest barn in Judith Basin County is also here. It was built in 1917.
