Meatballs & Spaghetti was an American animated television series that aired on CBS. It was shown on Saturday mornings from September 18, 1982, to September 10, 1983. The show was produced by Intermedia Entertainment Company and Marvel Productions. It was part of CBS's Saturday morning cartoon block called Starcade. This series was one of the last Saturday morning cartoons to include a laugh track. A laugh track adds recorded laughter to a show.
The show did not get many good reviews. One review from Variety said it lacked music and comedy. It also mentioned the show had no "socially redeeming value."
About the Show
The series was all about Meatballs and Spaghetti. They were a husband-and-wife singing duo. They traveled across the country in their mobile home. Their friend Clyde played the bass guitar for them. Their dog, Woofer, was their drummer.
The main characters were designed to look like famous musicians. Meatballs was a bit bigger, and Spaghetti was very thin. They were inspired by popular singers like Meat Loaf and the duo Sonny & Cher. Each episode of the show featured at least one brand new song.
