Medoc, Missouri facts for kids
Medoc is a small, quiet place located in Jasper County, in the state of Missouri, USA. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town would. Instead, it's part of the larger county area.
Discovering Medoc's History
Medoc was officially planned out and mapped in the year 1856. This process is called 'platting'. The community was named after the Medoc Indians, a group of Native American people.
Even before it was formally planned, a post office opened in Medoc in 1854. This post office was very important for the people living there, helping them send and receive mail. It stayed open for many years, finally closing down in 1927.
