The Story of Meigs
Meigs has an interesting history. It started with a post office. This post office was first set up in 1830. Back then, it was known as Meigs Center. Later, in 1894, its name was changed to just Meigs. The post office eventually closed in 1914.
The community of Meigs got its name from an important person. This person was Return J. Meigs Jr.. He was the fourth Governor of Ohio. A governor is like the leader of a state. They help make important decisions for everyone living there.
