Early TV and Radio Work
In 2011, Mel Greig appeared on the first season of The Amazing Race Australia. She competed on the show with her sister, Alana. The following year, in 2012, she started co-hosting the Hot30 Countdown on 2Day FM. She first worked with Matty Acton, then with Mike Christian.
The Royal Prank Call Incident
In December 2012, Mel Greig and Mike Christian made a prank call. They pretended to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. They called the hospital where Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was staying. Sadly, the prank had very serious and unexpected consequences. One of the nurses who answered the call later died. This tragic event led to the Hot30 Countdown radio program being cancelled.
Mel Greig later spoke about the incident. She said she felt like she was unfairly targeted. The radio show was taken off the air on December 12, 2012. It was officially ended the next month.
Life After the Prank
In 2015, Mel Greig was a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice Australia. She returned to radio in January 2016. She co-hosted The Hot Breakfast on 96.5 Wave FM with Travis Winks. In 2018, Greig left Wave FM and moved back to Sydney.
