Melrose sits at an elevation of about 889 feet (271 meters) above sea level. The community is home to one church, the Melrose United Methodist Church.
A Look Back: Melrose's History
Melrose has a simple but interesting history. A post office was opened in the community way back in 1877. This was a very important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. Having a post office meant Melrose was a recognized place where people lived and needed mail services. The post office served the community for many years, helping people stay connected. However, it eventually closed down in 1905. After that, people in Melrose would have gotten their mail from a nearby town or through rural delivery routes.
