Melvin Ray Sanders (born January 3, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a shooting guard and small forward. Melvin Sanders is best known for his time with the National Basketball Association's (NBA) San Antonio Spurs.

Melvin Sanders' Basketball Career
Melvin Sanders went to Oklahoma State University. After college, he began his professional basketball journey. He played for several teams in different leagues.
Early Professional Years
Sanders started his career with the Dakota Wizards in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He also played for teams in Europe, like Varese in Italy and Telindus Oostende in Belgium. In 2005, he was recognized for his skills. He made the All-CBA Second Team and the All-Defensive Team while playing for the Wizards.
Time with the San Antonio Spurs
During the 2005-06 NBA season, Melvin Sanders got a chance to play in the NBA. He signed several short-term contracts with the San Antonio Spurs. These contracts allowed him to show his talent. On March 26, 2006, the Spurs signed him for the rest of the season. This was a big step in his career.
Playing in Europe
After his time in the NBA, Sanders moved back to Europe. On January 9, 2007, he joined Pau-Orthez in the French League. He played well, averaging 10.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10 Euroleague games. He also helped Pau-Orthez win the French Cup that year.
Later in 2007, he signed with Panellinios in the Greek League. However, he faced a challenge when he broke his collarbone in a car accident. This injury limited his playing time. In December 2007, he moved to Unicaja Málaga in the Spanish ACB league.
Later Career and Retirement
Melvin Sanders continued to play for various teams in Europe. In July 2008, he signed with Kalise Gran Canaria in Spain. He then played for BC Minsk-2006 in Belarus in 2010. In 2011, he joined Menorca Bàsquet in Spain and Hacettepe Üniversitesi in Turkey.
In August 2012, he signed with Basket Barcellona in Italy. He later played for Pınar Karşıyaka in Turkey in 2013. His last team was CB Valladolid in Spain, which he left in January 2014. Melvin Sanders retired from professional basketball in 2014.
