Menachem Friedman (Hebrew: מנחם פרידמן) was an Israeli professor who studied how people live together in society. He was born in 1936 and passed away on March 16, 2020. Professor Friedman taught at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan. He was an expert on religion and how religious and non-religious Jewish people interacted in modern times. He also studied how Jewish religious laws, called Halakha, were made. Many people considered him one of the top experts on Haredi Judaism, which is a very religious group of Jewish people.

About His Life

Before he became a university professor, Menachem Friedman was a student at a special school called a yeshiva. He studied at the Yishuv Hehadash yeshiva in Tel Aviv.

His Work as a Professor

Professor Friedman was very interested in the Lubavicher rebbe, a famous Jewish leader. He wrote a book about him with another author, Samuel Heilman. The book was called "The Rebbe: The Life and Afterlife of Menachem Mendel Schneerson." This book shared many ideas about the Rebbe's life and influence.
