Menominee Park is the biggest park in Oshkosh, found on the north side of the city, next to Lake Winnebago. The zoo is special because it's built around a beautiful lagoon in the middle of the park. You can find the zoo at 520 Pratt Trail, just off E. Merritt Avenue.
History of Menominee Park Zoo
The Menominee Park Zoo first opened its doors in 1945. For many years, there was a small fee to enter. However, in 2006, a generous couple donated money to the zoo. Thanks to their gift, the zoo became completely free for everyone to visit!
Animals at the Zoo
The zoo is home to about 30 to 50 animals at any given time. You can see many different kinds of animals here. Some of the popular residents include playful otters, majestic elk, and fascinating wolves.
You might also spot slow-moving tortoises and a variety of colorful birds. The zoo also has some seasonal animals that visit at different times of the year. One unique thing about this zoo is that peacocks roam freely around the park, so you might see them strutting right past you!
