The Messeturm, which means "Trade Fair Tower," is a very tall building in Frankfurt, Germany. It stands 257 m (843 ft) (about 843 feet) high and has 63 floors. This makes it one of the tallest buildings in Frankfurt and Germany.

The Messeturm was the tallest building in Europe from 1990 until 1997. It was then passed by the Commerzbank Tower, which is also in Frankfurt. The Messeturm is located near the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds.

Even though it's called the "Trade Fair Tower," the Messeturm is an office building. It is not used for trade fair shows. The building was designed by Helmut Jahn. It is seen as a classic example of modern skyscraper design in Europe. The Messeturm is one of the few buildings in Germany with its own postal code (60308).

Building Design and Features

The Messeturm has a unique and interesting design. People in Frankfurt often call it Bleistift, which means "pencil," because of its shape. The building's design uses many geometric shapes. It starts with a square base, then becomes a cylinder, and finally ends with a pyramid at the top. This pyramid is 36.3 m (119.1 ft) (about 119 feet) tall.

Foundation Construction

Building the Messeturm's foundation was a big job. It set a world record for the longest continuous concrete pour. For 78 hours, ninety trucks poured concrete into the 6-metre (20 ft) (about 20 feet) deep foundation. This shows how much planning and work went into building this skyscraper.

Parking and Transport

The Messeturm has a large public parking garage with 900 spaces. It also has a direct connection to the city's subway system. This makes it easy for people to get to and from the building using public transport.
