How Metcalfe's Skinny Started
Metcalfe's Skinny Popcorn began in 2009. It was created by Matthew Ziff and Julian Metcalfe. Julian Metcalfe also started other well-known food companies like Itsu and Pret a Manger. At first, Metcalfe's Skinny was part of a bigger company called Metcalfe's Food. This larger company also made other food items for Itsu.
Becoming Its Own Company
In June 2015, the Metcalfe's Food group was divided into different businesses. Metcalfe's Skinny became its own separate company. The Itsu Grocery brand also became a part of the main Itsu company.
New Ownership
In January 2016, Kettle Chips bought a part of Metcalfe's Skinny. They bought 26% of the company. Later, in September 2016, Snyder's-Lance, which owns Kettle Chips, bought the rest of Metcalfe's Skinny. This meant Snyder's-Lance then owned the whole company. After this, Julian Metcalfe left the business.
Changing the Look
In November 2016, Metcalfe's Skinny launched new packaging for its products. The new designs no longer mentioned Julian Metcalfe or Pret a Manger. These changes were made on the website too.
