A book from the Song dynasty period, called Dongjing Meng Hua Lu (Dreams of Splendor of the Eastern Capital), also mentions Mian Ren. In this book, Mian Ren was described as a food decoration. It was something beautiful that you could also eat as a snack! This shows that flour figures have been part of Chinese culture for centuries.
