Michael A. Buonauro (born May 27, 1979 – died May 28, 2004) was an American artist and writer. He was famous for creating Marvelous Bob, a webcomic. Michael also worked with his friend Jeff Lofvers on other webcomics.
Michael's Webcomics
Michael Buonauro's most well-known work was Marvelous Bob. This was a story published online, like a comic book, but it had a unique, realistic style. The main character in Marvelous Bob had superhero powers. However, he was an antihero, meaning he was different from typical heroes because he sometimes made tough choices.
Michael also helped create other webcomics with his friend Jeff Lofvers. These included Dr. Lobster and Wrench Farm.
His Legacy
Michael Buonauro passed away in 2004, the day after his 25th birthday. After his death, his parents started the Michael Buonauro Foundation. This foundation has helped fund a program called Signs Of Suicide (SOS). The SOS program teaches students about suicide awareness and how to prevent it. It has reached over 55,000 students in high schools across Orange County, Florida.
The webcomic Marvelous Bob is still being worked on today. Michael's parents hope to finish the project just as he would have wanted. All the money earned from Marvelous Bob goes to the Michael Buonauro Foundation.
