Michael Gwisdek (born January 14, 1942 – died September 22, 2020) was a famous German actor and film director. He was known for his many roles in movies and TV shows, and also for directing films.

Michael Gwisdek's Career in Film
Michael Gwisdek started his acting journey in East Germany. He appeared in more than 130 films and television shows during his career, which began in 1968.
Directing Films and Winning Awards
His first movie as a director was Treffen in Travers. This film was special because it was the first movie from East Germany to be shown at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. The Cannes Film Festival is a very important event where new movies from all over the world are shown.
Later, his 1998 film The Big Mambo was chosen for the 48th Berlin International Film Festival. This is another big film festival held in Berlin, Germany.
The next year, Michael Gwisdek won a major award. He received the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 49th Berlin International Film Festival. He won this award for his acting in the movie Nightshapes. The Silver Bear is a very respected award for actors.
His Family Life
Michael Gwisdek had two sons, Johannes and Robert. Both of his sons also became involved in the arts. Johannes Gwisdek is a musician, and Robert Gwisdek is an actor, just like his father.
Michael Gwisdek passed away on September 22, 2020, when he was 78 years old.
