Michael McGowan (born April 14, 1966) is a talented Canadian filmmaker. He is well-known for writing and directing several popular movies. Some of his most famous films include Saint Ralph, One Week, Score: A Hockey Musical, and Still Mine.

Early Life and Education
Michael McGowan was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He later went to the University of North Carolina. There, he earned a degree in English.
His Journey in Film
After finishing university, Michael McGowan returned to Toronto. He started his career as a journalist. He wrote for different publications like Quill & Quire and The Globe and Mail.
Later, he moved into the TV industry. He helped create a children's TV show called Henry's World. This show used stop-motion animation.
In 2004, he wrote and directed his first big movie, Saint Ralph. This film was a big success! Michael McGowan won important awards for it. He received the Outstanding Achievement in Direction award from the Directors Guild of Canada. He also won the Best Feature Film award from the Writers Guild of Canada.
Another one of his films, Score: A Hockey Musical, was chosen for a special honor. It opened the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010. This is a very important film festival in Canada.
