Michael McGowan (born April 14, 1966) is a talented filmmaker from Canada. He is well-known for writing and directing several popular movies. These include Saint Ralph, One Week, Score: A Hockey Musical, and Still Mine.

Early Life
Michael McGowan was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He later went to the University of North Carolina. There, he earned a degree in English.
His Early Career
After college, Michael McGowan came back to Toronto. He worked as a journalist. He wrote for popular magazines and newspapers like Quill & Quire and Toronto Life. He also wrote for The Globe and Mail.
Moving into Film and TV
Later, Michael McGowan joined the TV industry. He helped create a children's TV show called Henry's World. This show used stop-motion animation.
In 2004, he wrote and directed the movie Saint Ralph. This film brought him a lot of recognition. He won an award for Outstanding Achievement in Direction from the Directors Guild of Canada. He also won the Best Feature Film award from the Writers Guild of Canada.
His movie Score: A Hockey Musical was a big deal. It was chosen to open the 35th Toronto International Film Festival in 2010. This is a very important film festival.
