About the Concert Venue
The Amphitheatre's Many Names
When this concert venue first opened on July 23, 2004, it was called the Ford Amphitheatre. Christian music artists like Michael W. Smith and MercyMe were the first to perform there.
Later, from 2010 to 2012, its name changed to the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre. This new name was not very popular with people. In fact, most people in an online survey said they didn't like it!
For a few months in 2013, it was known as the Live Nation Amphitheatre. Then, on May 15, 2013, a company called MidFlorida Credit Union bought the rights to the name for three years. That's how it got its current name, the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.
Music Festivals and Noise Rules
The amphitheatre has been home to many exciting music festivals. Every December, it hosts a popular rock festival called "97X's Next Big Thing." This all-day event mainly features alternative rock bands.
Because people live close to the venue, there are rules about how loud the music can be. Bands performing there must follow a special sound limit. A large wall was even built to help block the noise and keep the neighbors happy.
