This post office helped people in the community send letters and packages. It stayed open for many years. However, it closed down in 1896. The community got its name from a company. This company was called the Midland Blast Furnace Company. A blast furnace is a large oven. It is used to make iron from ore. This company likely played a role in the area's early development.
