Discovering Midtown Park

Midtown Park first opened its doors in the spring of 2012. It was designed to be a beautiful and useful space for everyone. The park has lovely stonework and many shade trees. These trees surround a large, rectangular grassy area.

The Braille Music Box Sculpture

Artists Po Shu Wang and Louise Bertelsen created this unique artwork. What makes it so special is that it can be enjoyed by everyone, including people who cannot see. The sculpture has a clever system inside. It can turn Braille letters into musical notes. Visitors can gently move a part of the music box within the sculpture. Connecting to the Greenway

Midtown Park is also connected to a larger nature path. The Little Sugar Creek Greenway runs right along the western side of the park. A formal stairway connects Midtown Park directly to this greenway.

The greenway is a popular path for walking, running, and biking. It follows the Little Sugar Creek through Charlotte. Gwen Cook, from Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, shared something important about the park. She said Midtown Park "... is a showpiece along the greenway." This means it's a highlight and a beautiful spot along the entire path.
