Miguel Gianpierre Araujo Blanco (born 24 October 1994) is a professional footballer from Peru. He plays as a centre-back, which means he is a defender who helps protect his team's goal. Miguel currently plays for the Major League Soccer club Portland Timbers and also for the Peru national team.

Miguel Araujo's Club Journey
Miguel Araujo has played for several football clubs throughout his career. He started in Peru, then played in Europe, and is now in the United States.
Starting with Cobresol
Miguel began his professional football career with Cobresol on 13 July 2011. He was only 17 years old when he played his first league game. This was in the Torneo Descentralizado, Peru's top football league. He played as a starter in his first few matches, showing his talent early on.
Moving to Sport Huancayo
In January 2012, Miguel left Cobresol to join Sport Huancayo. He played more than 40 league matches for this team. His strong performances here helped him get noticed by clubs in Europe.
Playing in Europe: Red Star Belgrade
On 29 July 2013, Miguel signed a four-year contract with Red Star Belgrade, a famous club in Serbia. He made his debut for them on 19 October 2013. His coach described his first game as "solid," meaning he played well and reliably.
Back in Peru with Alianza Lima
After his time in Serbia, Miguel returned to Peru. He became a regular player for Alianza Lima, one of Peru's biggest clubs. He played many seasons with them, becoming a key part of their defense.
Joining Portland Timbers
On 30 June 2023, Miguel Araujo agreed to join Portland Timbers. This club plays in Major League Soccer (MLS), which is the top football league in the United States and Canada. He signed a two-year contract, with a chance to play even longer.
Playing for Peru
Miguel has also proudly represented his home country, Peru, in international football.
Youth Teams
Before playing for the senior national team, Miguel was part of Peru's youth teams. He played for the Peru U17 national team and the Peru U20 team. These experiences helped him develop his skills and prepare for bigger challenges.
Senior National Team
Miguel got his first call-up to the Peru senior national team on 27 March 2013. He made his official debut for Peru on 18 November 2014, in a friendly match against Paraguay.
World Cup and Copa América
In June 2018, Miguel was chosen to be part of Peru's squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world! He has also played in the Copa América, a major tournament for South American national teams. In 2024, he scored his first goal for the national team against Uruguay during a World Cup qualification match.
