Club Career Highlights
Starting at Real Madrid
Miguel Torres was born in Madrid, Spain. He joined the youth teams of Real Madrid when he was 12 years old.
He played his first game for the main team on October 25, 2006. This was a Copa del Rey match against Écija Balompié. He got to play because some other defenders were injured.
Miguel also played in the next cup game and started in two matches against Real Betis. His first game in La Liga was on January 14, 2007. He played the whole game, and Real Madrid won 1–0 against Real Zaragoza.
His coach, Fabio Capello, was very impressed. He said it was rare to find a player with so much skill in both attack and defense like Torres.
Winning with Real Madrid
On February 10, 2007, Miguel made his first assist against Real Sociedad. He ran quickly down the left side and sent a cross to Ruud van Nistelrooy. Van Nistelrooy scored, helping Madrid win 2–1.
Miguel was an important part of the team when Real Madrid won their 30th league title. Sadly, he couldn't play in the final game because of an injury. In July 2007, he signed his first professional contract and officially joined the main squad.
In the next two seasons, Miguel played fewer games. This was partly because Real Madrid signed another strong defender, Gabriel Heinze.
Playing for Getafe
On August 31, 2009, Miguel moved to Getafe CF, another team in Madrid. He signed a five-year contract.
In his first season with Getafe, he played 26 matches. His team finished sixth in the league, which meant they qualified for the UEFA Europa League.
Miguel continued to play regularly for Getafe. On April 16, 2012, he scored his only goal in the top division. It was in a big 5–1 win against Sevilla FC.
Time in Greece and Málaga
On August 9, 2013, Miguel joined Olympiacos F.C. in Greece. He signed a three-year deal. He reunited with his former coach, Míchel, who had coached him at Getafe and Real Madrid's youth team.
After playing only ten games in Greece, he returned to Spain a year later. He signed with Málaga CF for one year, with a chance to stay longer.
During his time at Málaga, Miguel had some injury problems. On July 4, 2019, at 33 years old, he announced that he was retiring from football.
International Games
Miguel Torres played for the Spain under-21 team. His first game was on February 6, 2007, in a 2–2 draw against England. He continued to play regularly for the team after that.

In 2021, Miguel Torres and actress Paula Echevarría became parents to a son, who they also named Miguel. The couple appeared together on the third season of Mask Singer: Adivina quién canta, a popular TV show. Another former Real Madrid player, Fernando Morientes, won that season.
