Mikayla's AFLW Journey
Mikayla did not play any games in her first season with Fremantle. However, she made her first appearance in Round 4 of the 2022 AFL Women's season 6. This was an exciting moment for her.
Rising Star Nomination
In her third game, which was also her first home game at Fremantle Oval, Mikayla played incredibly well. She kicked three goals, which helped her team a lot. Because of her great performance, she was nominated for the AFL Women's Rising Star award. This award celebrates young players who show great talent and potential.
Facing Injuries
Unfortunately, in her very next game, Mikayla suffered a serious injury to her left knee. This type of injury is called an anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL). It meant she could not play for the rest of that season. When she returned to training the following year, she sadly injured her right knee in the same way.
A Strong Comeback
After a long time away from the game, Mikayla made a fantastic return to play for Fremantle in October 2024. This was 973 days after her last game. Her comeback showed her amazing determination and strength.
