Mike Darow (born Darow Myhowich; January 8, 1933 – December 7, 1996) was a Canadian television game show host. He was well-known for hosting popular shows like Dream House and Jackpot. Mike Darow also worked as a disc jockey on the radio.

Early Life and Career

Mike Darow was born on January 8, 1933, with the name Darow Myhowich. He grew up in Canada. In the early 1960s, he started his career in radio. He worked as a disc jockey at a radio station called CHUM in Toronto. While working there, he even sang on some fun songs made to promote the station.

Hosting Game Shows

Mike Darow became famous for hosting many game shows. From 1968 to 1970, he hosted Dream House in the United States. Later, from 1985 to 1988, he hosted the Canadian version of Jackpot. This show was also seen in the U.S. on the USA Network.

He also hosted Club 6 from 1960 to 1962. In 1976, he hosted the first season of The $128,000 Question. This was a new version of the classic show The $64,000 Question. Mike Darow also hosted Bluff in 1976 and A Go Go '66 in 1966. From 1973 to 1980, he hosted the Canadian game show Going Places.

Announcing and Other Work

Besides hosting, Mike Darow also worked as an announcer for other game shows. He was the announcer for The Who, What, or Where Game from 1969 to 1974. In 1980, he helped out as a sub-announcer for the show Tic Tac Dough.

Mike Darow also helped with charity events. He hosted parts of the MDA Labor Day Telethon in Toronto. He also emceed the yearly ACT Telerama for CFRN in Edmonton.

Later Life and Legacy

Mike Darow passed away on December 7, 1996, when he was 63 years old. He was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is remembered for his friendly personality and for being a familiar face on television game shows for many years.
