Mike Felder's Baseball Journey
Starting His Career
Mike Felder began his journey in professional baseball when the Milwaukee Brewers picked him. This happened in the 3rd round of the 1981 Major League Baseball draft. Being "drafted" means a team chooses a young player to join their organization.
Playing for Different Teams
After playing with the Brewers for several years, Mike became a "free agent." This means he was free to sign with any team he wanted. On April 5, 1991, he signed with the San Francisco Giants. While playing for the Giants, Mike showed great team spirit and leadership. Because of this, he won the Willie Mac Award in 1992. This award honors players who show great spirit and leadership on their team.
Later, on November 29, 1992, Mike signed as a free agent with the Seattle Mariners. He played for them for a short time. Then, on December 10, 1993, the Mariners traded him. He and another player, Mike Hampton, went to the Houston Astros in exchange for Eric Anthony. Mike Felder finished his Major League Baseball career with the Houston Astros in 1994.
