College Basketball Journey
Mike Hall went to Alan B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights, Illinois. He then played college basketball at George Washington University from 2002 to 2006. He was a starter for all four years. In his final year, he was one of the team's three captains. His team had an amazing record of 27 wins and only 3 losses that season.
His college team, the George Washington Colonials, won the Atlantic 10 Conference championship in 2005. They also made it to the NCAA tournament in both 2005 and 2006. Mike Hall was recognized for his great college career. In 2019, he was added to George Washington's Athletics Hall of Fame.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Mike Hall was not chosen in the NBA draft. However, he still started his professional career. He joined the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA Development League. This league helps players get ready for the NBA.
Playing for the Washington Wizards
In February 2007, the Washington Wizards in the NBA signed Mike Hall. They needed players because some of their forwards, like Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler, were injured. He first signed a ten-day contract. Then, he signed another ten-day contract. Finally, the team signed him for the rest of the season.
Mike Hall played in two games for the Wizards. He was released from the team in October 2007.
Playing in Italy and Other Countries
In August 2008, Mike Hall signed with Armani Jeans Milano. This is a top basketball team in Italy. During the 2008–09 season, he was one of the best rebounders in the Italian league. His strong play helped Armani Jeans reach the Euroleague Top 16. They also made it to the Italian league finals.
He had some of his best games during this time. In the Euroleague, he scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. In the Italian league, he scored 23 points and had 15 rebounds in one game.
After playing for Milano, Mike Hall continued his career in different countries. He played for Bancatercas Teramo in Italy in 2010. He then joined the Dakota Wizards back in the NBA Development League. In 2011, he moved to Turkey to play for Erdemir SK.
In 2012, he played for Fuenlabrada in Spain. Later that year, he signed with Maccabi Ashdod in Israel. Unfortunately, he got injured in his second game there and missed the rest of the season.
Mike Hall also played in Venezuela for Toros de Aragua in 2014. He returned to Spain to play for La Bruixa d'Or Manresa but left after only two games. He then played briefly for Juventud Sionista in Argentina.
In 2015, he played for Aries Trikala in Greece. He then went back to Italy to play for Scaligera Verona. From 2015 to 2017, he played for Pallacanestro Biella in Italy. He also played for Kleb Basket Ferrara.
Mike Hall officially announced his retirement from playing professional basketball in October 2021.
Becoming a Coach
After retiring as a player, Mike Hall started a new chapter in his basketball career. In 2021, he joined the New York Knicks organization. He became a coach for the Westchester Knicks. His role there is Player Development Manager. This means he helps players improve their skills.
