About Mikhail Prishvin
Mikhail Prishvin was born in a place called Krutschevo, which is now part of the Lipetsk Oblast in Russia. His family were merchants. He went to school in Riga from 1893 to 1897. Later, in 1902, he finished his studies at the University of Leipzig in Germany. He earned a degree in agronomics, which is the science of soil management and crop production.
During World War I, Mikhail Prishvin worked as a journalist, reporting on the war. After the war, he became a publicist, writing articles for the public. He also worked as a teacher in the countryside, helping to educate children in rural areas.
He started writing for magazines in 1898. His very first short story, called "Sashok," was published in 1906. Prishvin's stories are known for their poetic language and his amazing ability to observe and describe nature. He loved to write about animals, plants, and the changing seasons. Many of his books were translated into different languages. They became very important parts of children's literature in the Soviet Union. Mikhail Prishvin received two special awards for his writing.
