Club Career Highlights
Miklós Fehér was born in Tatabánya, Hungary. He started his football journey at a club called Győri ETO FC. Scouts from FC Porto noticed his skills there. In 1998, Porto signed him.
However, he didn't play much for Porto's main team. To get more experience, he was loaned out to other teams. He played for S.C. Salgueiros and S.C. Braga.
Playing for Braga
At Braga, Miklós had his best season. In the 2000–01 season, he scored 14 goals in 26 games. This was a great achievement for him. After this, he moved to Benfica, a big club in Lisbon. He scored eight goals for Benfica over two seasons.
Miklós Fehér's Passing and Legacy

On January 25, 2004, Miklós was playing a match for Benfica in Guimarães. The game was being shown live on television. Benfica was winning 1–0. Miklós had just come into the game as a substitute. He helped another player, Fernando Aguiar, score the only goal of the match.
Later in the game, Miklós received a yellow card. He then bent over, looking like he was in pain, and fell to the ground. Players from both teams quickly rushed to help him. Medical staff came onto the field right away. They tried to help him, and an ambulance took him to the hospital.
News about his condition was shared by the media all day. Before midnight, it was confirmed that Miklós had passed away. Doctors said he had a heart problem that caused his heart to stop.
Remembering Miklós
To honor Miklós, Benfica decided to retire his jersey number, 29. This means no other player at the club will wear that number again. His passing was a big shock to everyone in Portuguese sports. Many people, including players and coaches, paid their respects.
Benfica's team, including their president and coach, traveled to Hungary. They gave Miklós's parents the league championship medal from the 2004–05 season. This was a way to show respect for Miklós. They had also dedicated another trophy, the 2003–04 Taça de Portugal, to him earlier.
Years later, on October 9, 2009, the Hungarian national team visited Benfica's stadium. They placed flowers next to a statue of Miklós. This was a tribute to his memory. On what would have been his 43rd birthday in 2022, another Hungarian club, Puskás Akadémia FC, also honored him.
