The Milaca Municipal Hall, also known as the Milaca City Hall, is an important building in Milaca, Minnesota. It was built in 1936. This was during a difficult time in American history called the Great Depression.

What is the Milaca Municipal Hall?
This historic building is located at 145 Central Ave, South in Milaca, Minnesota. It was made from strong materials. These include fieldstone, brick, and concrete. The hall shows how buildings were made by the WPA. The WPA helped many people get jobs.
Building a Community Hub
Many people worked together to build this hall. One hundred fifty-five workers and six supervisors helped construct it. They used flagstone to cover the outside of the building. The building was designed to be a central place for the community.
What Was Inside?
The Milaca Municipal Hall had many different uses. The fire department and village council had space in the back. A library was located in the south end. There was also a community kitchen next to a large auditorium. This auditorium could seat 200 people. The American Legion also had space in the basement. The building was also used by churches and other groups.
Art and Design
Artwork inside the building was funded by the Federal Art Project. This was another government program. The art was created by an artist named André Boratko. The building's design is called Moderne. However, the use of fieldstone also gives it an Arts and Crafts look.
The Hall Today
Today, the Milaca Municipal Hall still serves the community. It is now used as the local museum and history center. It helps people learn about the past of Milaca.
