Milan Lalkovič: A Football Journey
Starting His Football Adventure
Milan Lalkovič began his football journey in his hometown of Košice, Slovakia. He played for youth teams like Košice-Barca and MFK Košice. His talent was noticed, and in 2007, he moved to England to join the famous club Chelsea.
Early Loans and Experiences
While at Chelsea, Milan went on loan to other clubs to gain experience. In August 2010, he joined Doncaster Rovers. He played six games for them before returning to Chelsea.
In August 2011, Milan went on a season-long loan to ADO Den Haag, a club in the Netherlands. The next year, in July 2012, he moved to Portugal to play for Vitória de Guimarães on another loan. He found it hard to get regular playing time there, so Chelsea called him back in January 2013.
Playing for Different Teams

Time at Walsall
On July 15, 2013, Milan joined Walsall on a six-month loan. He played well, scoring 4 goals in 24 games. Because he was doing so well, his loan was extended until the end of the season in January 2014. After this, Chelsea released him, making him a free agent.
Milan returned to Walsall on July 16, 2015, signing a one-year deal. He scored his first goal in his second time at Walsall in a League Cup match. He played 40 games and scored 5 goals during this period.
Moving to Portsmouth
In June 2016, Milan signed a two-year contract with Portsmouth. He scored his first goal for Portsmouth in a big 5–1 win against Barnet in September 2016.
In January 2017, he went on loan to Ross County, a club in the Scottish Premiership. Later, his contract with Portsmouth ended early by agreement.
Playing in the Czech Republic
After his time in England and Scotland, Milan moved to the Czech First League. In October 2018, he joined Sigma Olomouc. He played 17 games and scored 2 goals for them.
After one season, he moved to FC Baník Ostrava. In February 2021, he joined another Czech club, Příbram, for a short time.
Back in England
In November 2021, Milan came back to England. He signed with Boston United, a club in the National League North.
After playing in Greece for two years, Milan returned to England again in October 2024. He joined Stalybridge Celtic. The next month, he moved to Rushall Olympic. In March 2025, Milan joined Chorley, where he plays now.
