Mildred Gene Kornman (born July 10, 1925 – died August 19, 2022) was an American actress, model, and photographer. She was also known as Ricki VanDusen. Mildred was one of the last living actresses who worked during the silent movie era. She passed away at 97 years old.

Her Early Life and Acting Career

Mildred Kornman was born in Hollywood, California on July 10, 1925. Her older sister, Mary Kornman, was also a child actress. Their father, Eugene Kornman, was a professional photographer. He worked for the famous comedian Harold Lloyd. Mildred was even named after Lloyd's wife, actress Mildred Davis.

Starting in Movies

Mildred began acting when she was very young. She was only nine months old when she appeared in a movie called The Fourth Alarm. She often acted alongside her sister Mary.

Mildred became well-known for her roles in the Our Gang short films. These were popular comedy movies about a group of neighborhood kids. She was a regular in the series from 1926 to 1928. She returned to Our Gang from 1930 to 1935. During this time, she often played uncredited roles, like a student in a classroom scene.

Life After Child Acting

After finishing school at Hollywood High School, Mildred continued acting. She worked at 20th Century Fox studio. She used the name Ricki VanDusen for these roles, which were often uncredited.

Mildred also had a successful career as a model. She appeared in famous magazines like Vogue and Harpers Bazaar. She also worked in television commercials.

She went to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). There, she studied art, English, and Spanish. Mildred married Norton Hinsey on December 30, 1943.

In 2014, Mildred Kornman attended a special reunion. It was for the cast members of the Our Gang series. She was one of the last surviving actors from the show. The Our Gang series was made from 1922 to 1944. Mildred passed away on August 19, 2022.
