Milena Dravić (Serbian Cyrillic: Милена Дравић, pronounced [mîlena drǎːvitɕ]; 5 October 1940 – 14 October 2018) was a famous actress from Yugoslavia and Serbia. She starred in many films, TV shows, and plays.

About Milena Dravić's Life

Milena Dravić was born in Belgrade. When she was just four years old, her parents enrolled her in dance classes. She later started learning classical ballet.

In 1959, while still in high school, Milena was noticed by director František Čáp. He saw her picture on the cover of a youth magazine. She was in a group photo of ballet dancers. He asked the 18-year-old to be in his film Vrata ostaju otvorena. After acting in a few more movies, she decided to become a full-time actress. She then joined the Academy of Theatre Arts in Belgrade.

Her big break came in 1962. She starred in Branko Bauer's film Prekobrojna. For this role, she won the Golden Arena for Best Actress. This award was like the Oscars in Yugoslavia. This important role and award made her Yugoslavia's first and biggest female movie star. She won five Silver Arenas for supporting roles. She also won two Golden Arenas for lead roles.

Milena Dravić had a very long and successful career. She was great at playing many different kinds of characters. She could be a sad hero in World War II movies. She also played unique characters in experimental films like WR: Mysteries of the Organism. She was especially good in romantic comedies during the 1970s and 1980s. In 1980, she won the Cannes Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in Special Treatment.

She received many awards for her acting. In 1994, she got the special Pavle Vujisić Award. This award honored her contributions to Yugoslavian films. On December 15, 2017, she received the Dobričin prsten award. This award is for actors who have achieved a lot in their careers.

Milena Dravić was married three times. Her third husband was the well-known Serbian actor Dragan Nikolić. They were a very popular couple. They even hosted a famous TV show together in the 1970s called Obraz uz obraz.

Her Passing

Milena Dravić passed away on October 14, 2018. She had been battling an illness for a long time.
