Miles Marshall Lewis (born December 18, 1970) is an American writer and journalist. He writes about pop culture, music, and other topics. He finished college at Morehouse College in 1993.

Miles Marshall Lewis was born in The Bronx, New York, in the early 1970s. This was around the time hip hop culture was just starting. In 2004, he moved from the United States to Paris, France.

His Books and Writing

Lewis has written several books. His first book, Scars of the Soul Are Why Kids Wear Bandages When They Don't Have Bruises, came out in 2004. This book showed his unique writing style, mixing personal stories with thoughts on American culture.

His second book, There's a Riot Goin' On (2006), is about the famous 1971 album by Sly and the Family Stone. It also talks about the end of the 1960s counterculture movement.

In 2021, he released his third book, Promise That You Will Sing About Me: The Power and Poetry of Kendrick Lamar. This book tells the story of the famous musician Kendrick Lamar and his impact on culture.

Lewis also started and edited a literary magazine called Bronx Biannual, which is no longer published.

Online Work and The Hip Hop Museum

In 2007, Lewis started a website called Furthermucker.com. On this site, he wrote about art, pop culture, hip-hop, and his life as an American living in Paris.

Today, Miles Marshall Lewis works as the Cultural Historian for The Hip Hop Museum in The Bronx, New York. He helps tell the story of hip hop culture.

Miles Marshall Lewis lives in New York City with his French wife, Christine Herelle-Lewis. They have two sons together.
